The Zinnia Journal is a literary arts magazine focused on cultivating community and a space for artists to express themselves unapologetically. We desire to encourage growth, curiosity, and inspiration in writers at any stage of their literary journey. Zinnia seeks extraordinary poetry, prose, short stories, essays, art, and photography. Each issue aims to serve as a testament to the importance of literature and how it can move people, bring them together, and speak to the present moment. We warmly embrace writers from any and every background and identity.

We search for work that addresses unanswerable questions, calls to reconsider reality, and allows vulnerability and fear to take center stage. Writing that resembles a glimpse of sunlight on a wooden floor, holding your lover's hand in the grocery store, the intangible and the inexplicable, the scent of a peeled orange, a warmth wafting through the kitchen, the transient, the romantic, the spring rain, an empty apartment, horses running.
